KATACARA, JAKARTA – Ekonom senior dari Universitas Indonesia, Faisal Basri mendukung upaya Kementerian Pertanian (Kementan) dalam menjalankan progran diversifikasi pangan lokal secara masif dan berkelanjutan. Menurut Faisal, diversifikasi pangan harus dilakukan untuk diversifikasi pangan dan menguatkan ketahanan pangan nasional.

“Diversifikasi pangan harus dilakukan. Nah kan ada tuh subtitusi mengganti mie dari gandum ke singkong, lalu ada juga makanan olahan lain yang berbahan dasar ubi dan sagu. Menurut saya ini harus didorong terus oleh pemerintah,” ujar Faisal salam webinar Kompas TV, Selasa, 22 Desember 2020

Di samping itu, Faisal juga mengapresiasi penurunan angka defisit pangan nasional yang terjadi sejak 2 tahun terakhir. Apalagi, berdasarkan data dari global food security index, pertumbuhan pertanian Indonesia masih menunjukkan trend positif.

“Defisit pangan nasional dalam 2 tahun terakhir mengalami penurunan. artinya kian hari kian turun. Kita juga bersyukur bahwa dimasa pandemi ini, data global food security index menunjukan bahwa pertumbuhan pertanian masih positif,” katanya.

Faisal menambahkan, ke depan baik Kementan maupun Kementerian lainya terus bekeja dan menjadikan momentum pandemi sebagai ajang peningkatan ekspor. Mengani hal ini, Faisal mengaku optimis Indonesia mampu bangkit dari gejolak krisis pandemi Covid 19.

“Kunci dari menguatkan pangan nasional adalah memperkokoh sistem logistik. kalau boleh usul, sebaiknya pemerintah memperbaiki tol tol laut untuk mendistribusikan logistik pangan kita,” katanya.

Mengenai hal ini, Menteri Pertanian (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo mengatakan bahwa program diversifikasi pangan lokal merupakan bagian dari program strategis Kementan yang saat ini terus dijalankan secara masif di seluruh wilayah Indonesia.

“Diversifikasi pangan adalah program yang kita dorong. Misalnya kita dorong sagu, singkong dan pisang untuk makanan konsumsi sehat. kemudian kita juga mendorong penggunaan pekarangan rumah untuk membuat cadangan logistik di desa, camat dan kabupaten. Bukan hanya itu saja, kita sedang mengembangkan smart farming dan menjalankan program Geratieks (Gerakan Tiga Kali Ekspor). Semua program tersebut saling Terkait untuk mewujudkan ketahanan pangan,” katanya.

Sebagai informasi, Kementerian Pertanian saat ini tengah mendorong penerapan Integrated farming dengan program turunanya seperti budidaya Pekarangan Pangan Lestari (P2L). Penerapan program tersebut merupakan upaya pemerintah dalam penyediaan sumber pangan secara berkelanjutan.
