KACARANEWS.COM, JAKARTA– Hoerudin, seorang Pegawai Negeri Sipil (PNS) di Balai Besar Litbang Pascapanen Pertanian membuat penemuan yang bisa menghasilkan barang dengan potensi nilai triliunan rupiah.

Barang tersebut diperoleh dari limbah padi menumpuk di persawahan. Untuk diketahui produksi padi tahun 2018 sebesar 83,04 juta ton gabah kering giling (GKG) menghasilkan sekam padi sekitar 16,60 juta ton. Jika dihitung secara ekonomi, inovasi teknologi yang dikembangkan Hoerudin berpotensi meningkatkan nilai tambah ekonomi limbah sekam padi hingga puluhan triliun rupiah.

Mengutip laman Kementerian Pendayaaan Aparatur Negara dan Reformasi Birokrasi, Selasa 31 Desember 2019, Hoerudin menemukan inovasi nanobiosilika yang bisa meningkatkan nilai tambah dari sekam padi yang nyaris tak bernilai. Dengan inovasinya, limbah padi itu diubah menjadi Produk bernilai ekonomi tinggi yang dapat diaplikasikan di bidang pertanian dan industri

Nanobiosilika dapat dihasilkan dari sekam, arang, ataupun abu sekam menggunakan teknologi sol gel dengan energi rendah dan rendemen hasil tinggi. Nanobiosilika dari sekam padi menghasilkan tiga jenis produk, yaitu nanobiosilika cair, nanobiosilika serbuk, dan nanobiosilika gel.

Nantinya nanobiosilika cair ini bisa dimanfaatkan pada bidang pertanian sebagai pupuk untuk meningkatkan ketahanan terhadap serangan hama penyakit dan dampak kekeringan.

Hoeruddin menjelaskan inovasi nanobiosilika memiliki double-effect, yakni mendukung kegiatan zero-waste serta membantu para petani untuk meningkatkan hasil panen.

Diketahui, setiap 5 kilogram sekam padi bisa menghasilkan 2 liter produk nanobiosilika cair dengan harga Rp150 ribu-Rp250 ribu per liter. Sekitar 20 persen berat gabah merupakan sekam.

Dia mengatakan produk ini juga bsia menghasilkan anakan yang lebih produktif daripada yang tidak diberi nanobiosilika.

“ Hal ini juga dapat ditunjukkan dari hasil panen ubinan dimana pemberian nanobiosilika dari sekam produksinya lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan yang tidak diberi nanobiosilika,” ujar Fodli.

Kepedulian Hoerudin akan lingkungan dan masyarakat mengantarkannya menjadi salah satu dari lima nomine PNS Inspiratif dalam ajang Anugerah ASN 2019 yang diselenggarakan Kementerian PANRB. Hoerudin berharap di Indonesia semakin banyak PNS inspiratif sehingga Indonesia bisa maju dengan kreativitas yang pada prinsipnya tidak terbatas.
