KATACARA, SOPPENG– Rektor Bidang Akademik (Prof. Dr. Ir. Muh. Restu, MP) melakukan kunjungan lapangan di Kabupaten Soppeng guna melihat persiapan pendirian kampus Unhas. Kunjungan tersebut diterima secara langsung oleh Bupati Soppeng (H.A. Kaswadi Razak,SE) bertempat di Rumah Jabatan Bupati, Jumat (25/12).

Turut mendampingi dari Unhas Direktur Komunikasi (Ir. Suharman Hamzah, Ph.D), Direktur Pendidikan (Dr. Ida Leida, SKM., MKM., M.Sc.PH), Dekan Fakultas Pertanian, Dekan Fakultas Peternakan serta beberapa pejabat dan dosen Unhas lainnya.

Adapun dari Pemerintah Kabupaten Soppeng turut hadir Asisten III Setda, Staf Ahli Bidang Hukum, Kepala Dinas (Kadis) Pendidikan, Kadis Pertanian, Kepala BPKD, Kepala BKDSDM, Kadis Peternakan dan Perikanan serta Kabag Hukum.

Pada kesempatan tersebut, Prof Restu menjelaskan kunjungan dilakukan dalam rangka menjajaki potensi mengembangkan pendidikan tinggi di Kabupaten Soppeng. Menurutnya, daerah ini sangat strategis karena berada pada tempat yang bisa diakses oleh berbagai kabupaten yang ada di wilayah sekitar serta memiliki sumber daya unggul.

“Berbagai potensi yang ada harus dikembangkan lebih besar dengan mencoba melihat peluang yang ada di Kabupaten Soppeng untuk membangun Kampus Unhas. Hal ini juga merupakan salah satu bagian yang tidak terlepaskan dari visi Unhas untuk menghasilkan insan cendekia yang berkarakter,” jelas Prof Restu.

Dengan hadirnya kampus Unhas di Soppeng, diharapkan dapat mendorong peningkatan SDM unggul berdaya saing yang mampu membangun wilayah, baik di Kabupaten Soppeng sendri atau wilayah lainnya di sekitarnya. Olehnya itu, dukungan pemerintah daerah yang memiliki komitmen kuat mengembangkan pendidikan, serta masyarakat yang menginginkan adanya pendidikan tinggi akan semakin memperluas akses dalam mewujudkan pendirian kampus Unhas di Soppeng.

Pada kesempatan yang sama, Bupati Soppeng merespon positif pendirian kampus Unhas di daerahnya. Menurut beliau, program terobosan ini merupakan upaya menghadirkan Perguruan Tinggi Negeri di Soppeng guna meningkatkan kualitas SDM. Pihaknya juga menyatakan kesiapan untuk memenuhi persyaratan dan ketentuan yang telah disepakati sebelumnya.

“Kami dari pemerintah daerah senantiasa mendukung dan mengapresiasi ibu Rektor dan tim yang telah ditunjuk untuk melihat langsung kondisi lapangan. Semoga langkah selanjutnya di tahun ajaran yang akan datang, kami telah siap dan akan menjadi kampus yang membanggakan kita semua serta bernilai ibadah,” jelas Kaswadi.

Setelah penerimaan secara resmi, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan mengunjungi lokasi yang rencananya akan dijadikan sebagai tempat pendirian kampus, yaitu di sekitar Waduk Ompo.

Sebelumnya, Bupati Soppeng telah bertemu dengan Rektor Unhas dan mengutarakan niatnya untuk membuka program vokasi dalam bidang peternakan. Olehnya itu, kunjungan tim Unhas merupakan wujud implementasi dari niat pemerintah setempat.
