Rencana Nadiem Ubah Satuan Kredit Semester (SKS), Apa Saja?

KACARANEWS.COM, JAKARTA- Mendikbud, Nadiem Makarim, rencana melakukan perubahan definisi Satuan Kredit Semester (SKS). Berikut alasan di kebijakan tersebut.

1. Fleksibilitas mahasiswa terbatas

Saat ini mahasiswa tidak memiliki banyak fleksibilitas untuk mengambil kelas di luar prodi dan kampusnya sendiri.

Karena itu, arahan kebijakan baru ini perguruan tinggi wajib memberikan hak bagi mahasiswa untuk secara sukarela (dapat diambil atau tidak), yaitu:

Dapat mengambil sks di luar perguruan tinggi sebanyak 2 semester (setara dengan 40 sks).

Ditambah lagi, dapat mengambil sks di prodi yang berbeda di PT yang sama sebanyak 1 semester (setara dengan 20 sks).

Jadi kalau di total mahasiswa punya hak untuk mengambil mata kuliah di luar prodi sebanyak tiga semester.

2. Bobot SKS kecil

Bobot SKS untuk kegiatan pembelajaran di luar kelas sangat kecil dan tidak adil bagi mahasiswa yang sudah mengorbankan banyak waktu.

Jadi, dengan kebijakan baru ini SKS yang wajib diambil di prodi asal adalah sebanyak 5 semester dari total semester yang harus dijalankan. Tapi ini tidak berlaku untuk prodi Kesehatan.

3. Pertukaran mahasiswa dianggap tunda kelulusan

Di banyak kampus, pertukaran pelajar atau praktik kerja justru menunda kelulusan mahasiswa.

Karena itu, dengan kebijakan Kampus Merdeka, Mendikbud ingin ada perubahan defisini SKS, yakni setiap sks diartikan sebagai “jam kegiatan”, bukan “jam belajar”.

Semua jenis kegiatan terpilih harus dibimbing oleh seorang dosen (dosen harus ditentukan oleh PT).
