Kacaranews.com, JAKARTA- Dosen Fakultas Farmasi Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Prof. Dr. Zullies Ikawati mendukung upaya Kementerian Pertanian (Kementan) dalam membuat inovasi kalung  dari tanaman eucalyptus sebagai produk kesehatan. Dia menyebut, produk ini sangat cocok untuk orang yang terpapar Covid 19.

“Saya kira, sebagai pendukung untuk gejala covid inovasi ini sangat bagus karena covid biasanya sesak nafas. Jadi ini sangat pas sekali,” kata Zullies saat mengisi narasumber di kabar petang TV One, Sabtu, 4 Juli 2020.

Meski demikian, kata Zullies, untuk sebagai antivirus corona pembuktian menuju ke sana masih harus melalui beberapa proses panjang. Termasuk uji klinis di tingkat kementerian dan lembaga lain.

Kepala Balai Besar Penelitian Veteriner Kementerian Pertanian, Indi Dharmayanti menegaskan bahwa semua inovasi yang dilakukan Kementan masih dalam tahap invitro dengan proses riset dan penelitian yang masih panjang.

“Sebenarnya bukan obat untuk corona, karena riset masih terus berjalan. Tapi ini adalah ekstrak dengan metode desilasi untuk bisa membunuh virus yang kita gunakan di laboratorium. Toh sesudah kita lakukan screening ternyata eucalyptus ini memiliki kemampuan membunuh virus influenza bahkan corona,” tutupnya.

Namun, kata Indi, produk ini tetap akan dipasarkan melalui pihak ketiga, dalam hal ini perusahaan yang bergerak di bidang minyak berbahan dasar tanaman eucalyptus. “Dalam waktu dekat mungkin akan dipasarkan melalui perusahaan swasta,” tutupnya.
