Fakultas Kehutanan Unhas Gelar The 2nd Biennial Conference of Tropical Biodiversity

KATACARA, MAKASSAR–Fakultas Kehutanan Universitas Hasanuddin menyelenggarakan konferensi internasional bertajuk “The 2nd Biennial Conference of Tropical Biodiversity”. Konferensi dengan mengusung tema “Managing Challenges in Biodiversity Conservation During The Pandemic to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals for Better Environment” berlangsung mulai pukul 08.30 Wita secara virtual melalui zoom meeting, Rabu (4/8).

Hadir sebagai narasumber yakni:

  1. Prof. Erin P. Riley, Ph.D (Department of Anthropology, San Diego State University, USA),
  2. Prof. Enrico Bonello, Dr. Ida Adju Pradnja Resosudarmo (Environment Policy, Australia National university),
  3. Dr. Doan Nainggolan, Ph.D (Environment Economic Science, Aarhus university, Denmark),
  4. Prof. Dr. Supratman, S.Hut., MP (Forest Management, Hasanuddin University, Indonesia).

Mengawali kegiatan, Ketua Panitia Mukrimin, S.Hut., Ph.D., mengucapkan terima kasih atas kesediaan seluruh narasumber. Dirinya mengatakan, konferensi internasional tersebut penting guna mengetahui keanekaragaman hayati bagi ekosistem.

“Keanekaragaman hayati sangat penting dan berperan sebagai pendukung ekosistem dalam menjaga kualitas dari berbagai aspek termasuk kualitas tanaman, udara, karbondioksida, air dan lain sebagainya,” jelas Mukrimin.

Pada kesempatan yang sama, Dekan Fakultas Kehutanan Unhas Dr. A. Mujetahid, S.Hut., MP., dalam sambutannya mengharapkan agar kegiatan tersebut mampu memberikan kontribusi positif dalam berbagai aspek kehidupan, utamanya dalam pengembangan dan pengelolaan hutan. Selain itu, sebagai media pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan pada bidang keanekaragaman hayati dan pengelolannya.

Kegiatan resmi dibuka oleh Wakil Rektor Bidang Riset, Inovasi, dan Kemitraan Unhas, Prof. dr. Muh. Nasrum Massi, Sp.MK, Ph.D. Dalam sambutannya beliau mengapresiasi dan memberikan dukungan penuh. Konferensi merupakan bagian dari upaya meningkatkan kolaborasi dengan banyak universitas.

Usai pembukaan secara resmi, kegiatan dilanjutkan dengan pemaparan materi dari para narasumber.  Prof. Erin P. Riley, Ph.D (Department of Anthropology, San Diego State University, USA) salah satu narasumber menyampaikan materi terkait “Roadside Monkeys: One Health and Conservation Implications of an Emerging Human-Primate Interface in Sulawesi, Indonesia”.

Dalam materinya, Prof. Riley menjelaskan bahwa primate dipengaruhi oleh kehadiran dan kegiatan manusia misalnya berburu. Selain itu, manusia dan primata hidup dalam jarak dekat, bertemu dan berinteraksi satu sama lain.

Materi lain juga disampaikan oleh Prof. Dr. Supratman, S.Hut., MP (Forest Management, Hasanuddin University, Indonesia) terkait “Biodiversity and Utilization: Science, Technology and Economic” yang secara umum membahas bahwa pandemi Covid-19 sangat mempengaruhi sains, teknologi dan ekonomi masyarakat yang bukan hanya Indonesia tapi global.

Kegiatan diikuti kurang lebih 200 peserta dari berbagai institusi dan dijadwalkan akan berlangsung hingga pukul 18.00 Wita. (*/ng-Fhut/mir)
