Menginjak usia ke enam, Universitas Pertamina akan berlayar dengan nahkoda baru. Melalui proses pemilihan transparan dan demokratis, Prof. IGN Wiratmaja Puja, Ph.D., dilantik secara resmi sebagai Rektor UP periode 2021-2026. Melalui ikatan kerja sama yang erat antara Pertamina dan ITB, Prof Wirat akan melanjutkan tampuk kepemimpinan dari Prof Akhmaloka.

Prof Wirat berlatar belakang pendidikan di Institut Teknologi Bandung dan University of Kentucky, Amerika Serikat, serta pengalaman sebagai birokrat senior di Kementerian ESDM. Prof Wirat juga menjabat sebagai Guru Besar Fakultas Teknik Mesin dan Dirgantara ITB.

Pada acara pelantikan daring Senin (01/03) yang diikuti DewanPembina dan Dewan Penyelenggara UP, Direktur Utama PT Pertamina (Persero) Nicke Widyawati menyampaikan tuntutan eksternal yang dihadapi Universitas Pertamina. “Sebagai bagian dari ekosistem Pertamina grup, Universitas Pertamina dituntut untuk melahirkan SDM unggul dan menghasilkan penelitian bermanfaat. Guna menjawab tantangan energi baru terbarukan. Kolaborasi dan sinergi menjadi kunci untuk menang dalam kompetisi ke depan,” ujarnya.

Ke depan, lanjut Nicke, UP menghadapi tantangan besar untuk mewujudkan visi menjadi world class university di bidang energi. UP harus sigap dan lincah beradaptasi terhadap kondisi VUCA, termasuk pandemi yang melanda dunia. “Kami yakin bahwa dengan berpedoman pada nilai AKHLAK, sinergi yang baik, dan semangat transformasi, di bawah kepemimpinan Prof. Wirat UP akan mampu menjawab segala tantangan,” ujar Nicke.

Dalam kesempatan sama, Prof Wirat menyampaikan bahwa ia menyiapkan serangkaian program terobosan untuk bersama seluruh sivitas meraih visi. “Diantaranya fokus pada pengembangan kualitas SDM dosen, kualitas mahasiswa, pembentukan center of excellence dan tridharma peguruan tinggi. Saya juga mengajak para civitas academik UP untuk keluar dari zona nyaman sistem yang klasik. Kita harus berani melihat perubahan yang ada di luar dan mengadopsinya,” ungkapnya.

Pelantikan daring tersebut dihadiri pula oleh pejabat LLDIKTI, perwakilan Rektor ITB dan Rektor UI, Aliansi Perguruan Tinggi BUMN (APERTI BUMN) terdiri dari Rektor Telkom University, Rektor Universitas Internasional Semen Indonesia, Rektor IT Telkom Surabaya, Ketua Sekolah Tinggi Manajemen Logistik Indonesia, Direktur Politeknik Pos Indonesia, Rektor Institut Teknologi PLN, Rektor Institut Teknologi dan Bisnis BRI (BRI Institute).
