KACARANEWS.COM, JAKARTA – Wabah virus Covid-19 atau Corona yang makin meluas ke seluruh negara di dunia melahirkan berbagai persoalan. Segala kebijakan pun diterapkan oleh setiap negara untuk melawan laju pandemi Covid-19.

Salah satu yang menjadi sorotan masalah adalah menyangkut ketersediaan pangan untuk masyarakat saat situasi pandemi Covid-19 yang dinilai harus mencukupi.

Akademisi sekaligus Guru Besar Ilmu Pertanian UGM Prof Masyhuri menjelaskan, pemberian stimulus kepada petani lebih penting pada kondisi saat ini sehingga mampu memacu produksi guna menyiapkan kebutuhan pangan saat kegentingan situasi akibat Covid-19.

“Bukannya anti-impor. Tapi begini, bila memang ketersediaan pangan domestik katanya cukup (selama masa krisis pandemi Covid-19) itu dulu yang diutamakan. Jangan produk pertaniannya masih ada tapi impor,” ujar Masyhuri, Rabu (25/3/2020).

Menurut Masyhuri, mengandalkan kemampuan pertanian dalam negeri dan dukungan stimulus kepada petani dapat dijadikan salah satu topangan pertahanan Indonesia dalam kondisi krisis.

“Kita bisa juga ciptakan substitusi impor asal  pembangunan pertanian di desa diperkuat. Konsisten membangun pertanian bakal memperkuat ekonomi nasional,” kata Masyhuri.

Masyhuri menuturkan, dengan jaminan ketersediaan pangan cukup baik dari pemerintah Indonesia saat krisis wabah virus Covid-19 bakal membawa kemandirian dari ketergantungan impor dari negara lain.

Sementara itu, guna memastikan stabilitas stok serta harga pangan, Menteri Pertanian (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo menggandeng para pelaku produsen dan pemasok, Jumat pekan lalu.

Syahrul Yasin Limpo bersama produsen dan pemasok melakukan kesepakatan pemenuhan 11 komoditas pangan pokok yakni, beras, jagung, daging ayam, daging sapi, telur, minyak goreng, gula pasir, cabai merah, cabai rawit, bawang merah, dan bawang putih.
