KATACARA, CILACAP – Kementerian Pertanian (Kementan) terus melakukan upaya pemenuhan kebutuhan stok pangan nasional. Salah satunya melalui program yang menjadi andalan Kementan saat ini yaitu Perluasan Areal Tanam Baru (PATB) Padi. Di Cilacap, panen perdana berhasil dilakukan dari program ini.
PATB adalah program peningkatan produksi padi dengan memanfaatkan lahan baru yang belum pernah ditanami seperti tumpangsari dengan areal perkebunan, kehutanan, lahan rawa, lahan galian eks tambang dan sebagainya.
PATB juga sesuai dengan harapan Menteri Pertanian Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) yang berupaya agar produksi pertanian digenjot hingga berlipat-lipat. Apalagi sektor ini memiliki potensi yang sangat besar dalam menumbuhkan ekonomi nasional.
“Adanya musibah wabah virus Covid-19 ini tidak boleh membuat aktivitas pertanian berhenti. Kementan akan terus optimalkan SDM Pertanian untuk menggenjot produksi dan produktivitas bahkan ekspor,” jelasnya.
Kepala Badan Penyuluhan dan Pengembangan Sumberdaya Manusia Pertanian (BPPSDMP) Kementan, Dedi Nursyamsi, mengatakan, insan pertanian harus bersyukur karena sektor pertanian tetap bisa survive dalam menyediakan pangan bagi masyarakat dalam masa pandemi covid-19 ini.
“Salah satu yang mendukung capaian ini adalah peran Kostratani, yaitu diharapkan mampu memperkuat produksi dan koordinasi stakeholder pertanian seperti penyuluh, petani dan pelaku usaha di tingkat lapangan melalui media digital,” tegas Dedi.
Sebagai salah satu sentra padi yang cukup menonjol, Cilacap turut menyumbang tambahan produksi padi melalui kelompok tani yang tersebar diseluruh Kabupaten Cilacap.
Di penghujung Februari dan awal Maret 2021 mulai dilaksanakan panen dari program PATB yang telah diawali tanam padi gogo pada November 2020 lalu.
Kegiatan panen padi saat ini sudah ramai dilaksanakan termasuk oleh Poktan Sari Reja dan Kelompok Lembaga Masyarakat Desa Hutan (LMDH) Giri Mulyo sebagai pelaksana program PATB wilayah binaan Balai Penyuluhan Pertanian (BPP) Kostratani Sidareja.
Yusuf Irianto, Koordinator BPP Kecamatan Sidareja menambahkan, bahwa ini adalah permulaan yang bagus.
“Dari hasil ubinan varietas inpari 33 yang dilaksanakan Poktan Sari Reja mencapai 5,5 kg, dengan provitas mencapai 8,8 ton/ha. Jika luasan PATB 20 ha, maka produksi hampir 176 ton. Sedangkan hasil ubinan varietas Situ Bagendit di kelompok LMDH Giri Mulyo diperoleh 6,1 kg dengan provitas mencapai 9,76 ton/ha. Jika luasan PATB 5 ha maka produksi berkisar 48,8 ton. Total luas panen Kecamatan Sidareja dari 1380 ha bertambah 25 ha,” tutur Yusuf.
Suksesnya panen padi PATB ini sangat disyukuri oleh para petani. Seperti yang disampaikan Mumin, Ketua Poktan Sari Reja.
“Alhamdulillah akhirnya kami bisa panen padi gogo memanfaatkan lahan kering sekitar tanaman tahunan. Bersyukur pemerintah telah memberikan bantuan benih, pupuk NPK, POC, pestisida, herbisida, sumur bor dan pompa serta biaya olah tanah yang sangat bermanfaat untuk kami. Sumur bor dan pompa bisa kami manfaatkan untuk budidaya di musim selanjutnya,” jelasnya.
Sementara itu Heri, pengurus kelompok LMDH Giri Mulyo mengatakan, Ini adalah pertama kali kami mencoba menanam padi gogo memanfaatkan lahan kering milik perhutani.
“Hasilnya cukup memuaskan, terimakasih pemerintah sudah memberi bantuan, sangat bermanfaat untuk kami”, tegasnya.
Eti, penyuluh pendamping di Kecamatan Sidareja mengatakan, dengan membuka lahan baru memanfaatkan lahan kering di sekitar tanaman tahunan dan lahan milik perhutani adalah cara cerdas petani menangkap peluang memacu produksi dan pendapatan keluarga.
