Berbagai faktor ditengarai menjadi penyebabnya. Salah satunya adalah kelalaian para mahasiswa dalam menentukan tujuan, yang diawali dengan kekeliruan pemilihan program studi (jurusan). Indonesia Career Center Network (ICCN) pada tahun 2017 melakukan penelitian yang menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 87% mahasiswa di Indonesia mengaku keliru memilih jurusan.

Para responden mengaku, jurusan yang dipilih tidak sesuai dengan minat mereka. Umumnya, mereka lebih memilih untuk diterima di perguruan tinggi negeri atau kampus prestigious meskipun jurusannya tidak mereka sukai. Lebih jauh, mereka mengatakan bahwa kekeliruan pemilihan jurusan ini berakibat pada kebimbangan untuk menentukan tujuan hidup setelah menyelesaikan perkuliahan.

Menyelesaikan pendidikan di dua jurusan dalam waktu yang bersamaan di Columbia University, New York, Cinta Laura Kiehl membagikan ceritanya kepada para wisudawan Universitas Pertamina periode Maret 2021, Rabu (31/3). Supaya bisa cepat kerja, menurut Cinta, para wisudawan harus mampu beradaptasi untuk hidup dengan cara yang lebih inovatif dan kreatif. “Apalagi di masa pandemi seperti sekarang ini. Dunia menjadi semakin kompetitif. Kalian harus menjadi versi terbaik dari diri kalian. Set your goals dan kembangkan passion sedari dini,” ucapnya.

Meraih predikat cumlaude di program studi Psikologi dan Sastra Jerman dari salah satu kampus bergengsi di dunia tersebut, menurut Cinta, diperolehnya dengan bersusah payah. “Aku terbiasa menjadikan tantangan sebagai sumber pembelajaran. Tantangan juga membuatku mengembangkan skill yang aku miliki. Dengan membiasakan diri dengan cara pandang ini, aku menjadi lebih dewasa dalam menyikapi segala sesuatu,” lanjutnya.

Cinta juga menekankan pentingnya manajemen waktu dan membiasakan diri terhadap perubahan yang membangun. “Kalau kalian sudah menentukan apa tujuan hidup kedepan, kalian hanya perlu fokus pada tujuan itu. Kembangkan dan asah soft skill dan hard skill yang kalian miliki untuk mencapai tujuan kalian. Jangan terpengaruh oleh hal-hal negatif dari orang lain. Dan tentunya, penting untuk melakukan manajemen waktu dan manajemen diri,” sambungnya. Diakhir _motivational speech_nya Cinta menghimbau kepada seluruh wisudawan agar tidak berhenti belajar dan selalu memanfaatkan peluang dimanapun berada.

Hal serupa disampaikan oleh Rektor Universitas Pertamina (UP), Prof. Ir. I Gusti Nyoman Wiratmaja Puja, Ph.D., dalam sambutannya. Prof Wirat mengajak seluruh wisudawan untuk menjadi pembelajar sepanjang hayat atau lifelong learner, yaitu pribadi yang tidak lelah untuk terus belajar. “Anak-anakku harus menjadi pribadi yang memiliki rasa keingintahuan tinggi. Sehingga kedepan, akan menjadi individu yang mengetahui banyak hal, individu yang fleksibel dan mampu beradaptasi di segala kondisi. Ini adalah cara terbaik untuk bertahan di tengah dunia yang serba tidak pasti,” ungkapnya.

Saat ini, kampus milik PT Pertamina (Persero) tersebut sedang membuka pendaftaran Seleksi Nilai Rapor untuk Tahun Akademik 2021/2022. Pendaftaran telah dibuka sejak tanggal 23 Maret hingga 30 April 2021 mendatang. Seleksi ini merupakan seleksi tanpa tes. Siswa-siswi dapat memilih empat program studi yang ada di Universitas Pertamina, disesuaikan dengan kelompok ujian dan latar belakang pendidikan SMA/sederajat yang tengah ditempuh. Seleksi Nilai Rapor dapat diikuti oleh siswa SMA/sederajat lulusan tahun 2020 dan 2021.

Bagi siswa SMA/sederajat lulusan tahun 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 dan 2021 bisa juga mendaftar melalui jalur Ujian Masuk (UM) Online (daring). Pendaftaran untuk UM Online telah dibuka sejak tanggal 15 Maret hingga 22 April 2021. Ujian akan dilaksanakan pada hari Sabtu, 24 April 2021 secara daring (online).
