KATACARA, JAKARTA, – Dari hasil survey IDC’s Asia/Pacific Enterprise Cognitive/AI pada tahun 2018, ditemukan setidaknya 24,6 persen organisasi di Indonesia sudah mengadopsi teknologi AI. Teknologi AI merupakan salah satu dari lima teknologi prioritas guna mendukung agenda nasional “Making Indonesia 4.0”. Menurut McKinsey & Company, penggunaan AI berpotensi meningkatkan produktivitas global hingga 13 Triliun USD.

Teknologi kecerdasan buatan atau Artificial Intelligence (AI), belakangan menjadi tren dalam perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi (iptek). Penerapan teknologi ini diharapkan dapat mengakselerasi efisiensi di berbagai sektor industri, termasuk migas.

“Kami melihat peluang besar dalam pengembangan AI di industri migas. Oleh karenanya Universitas Pertamina membentuk pusat studi Geosciences Intelligence and Advanced Computing atau GAIA. Pusat studi ini diharapkan dapat memberikan perspektif dan analisa dalam pengambilan keputusan di sektor migas kepada para pemangku kepentingan,” ungkap Agus Abdullah, Ph.D., Ketua Pusat Studi GAIA dalam wawancara daring, Selasa (8/6).

GAIA terus membangun kerjasama dengan industri migas dan lembaga penelitian. Setidaknya tiga proyek penelitian digarap bersama Innovation and New Venture (INV) PT Pertamina (Persero), dan proyek penelitian lain dengan Pertamina Hulu Sanga-Sanga. Serta proyek pengembangan bersama Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Center Universitas Syah Kuala.

Salah satu proyek kerja sama dengan INV yang mendulang sukses, adalah pembuatan aplikasi untuk penargetan sumur bor. Aplikasi bernama PERTARAY ini memungkinkan pengguna memperoleh gambaran riil kondisi di bawah permukaan tanah. Sehingga, pengguna dengan mudah mengidentifikasi apa yang terkandung di dalamnya.

“Selain berguna untuk efisiensi waktu, tenaga, dan biaya, aplikasi ini juga dapat digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi lokasi eksplorasi dan produksi yang berada di wilayah terpencil atau dengan kondisi yang unik. Sehingga, hambatan-hambatan eksplorasi migas dapat teratasi,” jelas Agus.

Kehadiran dosen ahli dan dosen praktisi, mendukung kedekatan UP dengan industri. Pada gilirannya, mahasiswa pun dilibatkan dalam proyek penelitian industri maupun akademik para dosen.

Wijoyo Wisnu Mukti, mahasiswa program studi Ilmu Komputer Angkatan 2018 misalnya, terlibat dalam pengembangan perangkat lunak pengolahan data seismik berbasis web dan cloud. Proyek kolaborasi pusat studi GAIA dengan INV ini, memungkinkan pada pekerja migas untuk tetap produktif melakukan pekerjaan eksplorasi kapan saja dan di mana saja, tanpa dibatasi ruang dan waktu.

“Terlibat secara langsung dalam proyek semacam ini membuat saya dapat mengaplikasikan pembelajaran yang saya dapatkan di kelas. Lebih jauh lagi, saya jadi mengetahui kondisi riil di industri energi saat ini. Jadi nantinya, saya lebih siap untuk terjun ke industri,” ungkap Wijoyo.

Bagi siswa siswi SMA yang ingin berkuliah di kampus besutan PT Pertamina (Persero) tersebut, saat ini tengah dibuka Seleksi Nilai Rapor dan Ujian Masuk Online untuk Tahun Akademik 2021/2022.
