Kementan Perkuat Peran SDM Pertanian di UIM

KATACARA, MAKASSAR – Kementerian Pertanian (Kementan) menandatangani Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) dengan Universitas Islam Makassar (UIM) sebagai tindak lanjut memperluas sinergi dengan perguruan tinggi dalam membangun pertanian yang maju, Sabtu (5/6/21). Kerja sama ini diharapkan dapat memperkuat peran generasi muda sebagai SDM pertanian dalam peningkatan produksi pertanian melalui penelitian dan pengabdian kepada masyarakat.

Menteri Pertanian Syahrul Yasin Limpo (Mentan SYL) mengatakan saat ini para generasi muda telah masuk di era teknologi digital sehingga perlu beradaptasi dalam memanfaatkan peluang dan memenangkan kompetisi. Para generasi muda didorong mengambil peran khususnya dalam bidang pertanian melalui berbagai kegiatan yang produktif.

“Pertanian saat ini tidak sama lagi dengan pertanian sebelumnya. Kita masuk pertanian internet of thinking, menggunakan artificial intelegent, satelit sudah main, pertanian itu keren,” ujar Mentan SYL dalam Orasi Ilmiah Dies Natalis ke-55 Sekaligus Wisuda Sarjana dan Profesi, Pascasarjana Mahasiswa UIM dan penandatangan MoU Kementan dengan UIM.

Melansir data BPS, sektor pertanian tumbuh positf pada triwulan II 2020 PDB sektor pertanian tumbuh 16,24 persen q to q. Ekspor produk pertanian juga menunjukkan kinerja yang menggembirakan. Nilai ekspor kumulatif selama Januari- Desember 2020 mencapai 451,8 triliun atau meningkat 15,79 persen dibandingkan periode yang sama tahin 2019 sebesar 390,2 triliun.

“Besok, kalian (mahasiswa,- red) yang harus terjun. Pertanian itu bukan hanya tentang makan. Pertanian itu lapangan kerja. Pertanian itu memperkuat perekonomian suatu daerah, dalam krisis apapun jawabannya panganmu aman,” tegas SYL.

Oleh karena itu, mantan Gubernur Sulsel dua periode ini mendorong para lulusan UIM untuk terlibat dalam kemajuan sektor pertanian mulai dari hulu hingga hilir dengan membangun pertanian berskala ekonomi dan bisnis dengan melibatkan teknologi pertanian yang modern. UIM salah satu perguruan tinggi yang menjadi rumah inovasi teknologi dan mengorganisir petani ke dalam korporasi pertanian.

“Besok jadilah sarjana dari UIM dengan karakter bugis, islam dan makassar. Hadirlah para sarjana yg komunikator di masyarakat, jadilah benar dengan cita cita tinggi, cerdas dan bersih,” ucapnya.

Pada kesempatan ini, Kementan menandatangani MoU dengan UIM pada beberapa subsektor diantaranya dengan Direktorat Tanaman Pangan, Direktorat Perkebunan, Direktorat Peternakan dan Kesehatan Hewan serta Badan Penelitian dan Pengembangan Pertanian.

Rektor UIM, Andi Majdah M Zain mengatakan UIM menjadi universitas dalam mempersiapkan SDM yang unggul dalam menyambut Indonesia maju dan modern. UIM menyadari bahwa SDM memberikan supporting sistem yang penting dalam menggerakkan organisasi.

“UIM terus berupaya meningkatkan tenaga dosen serta terus meningkatkan kemampuan dalam skill dalam penguasaan teknologi dan informasi sehingga mampu menopang kinerja UIM yang lebih baik, efisien dan optimal,”kata nya.

Majdah juga mengatakan UIM saat ini telah membangun sistem terintegrasi yang meliputi sistem akademik, learning management system, sistem informasi keuangam dan kepegawaian serta ditunjang dengan penyediaan internet yang disetiap sudut kampus

“Melalui MoU dengan Kementan kita berharap UIM dapat meningkatkan perannya dalam masyarakat dan melahirkan sarjana yang kompetitif dan penelitian yang inovatif yang bisa didimanfaatkan dalam dunia pertanian,” tutup Majdah.

Sementara Kepala Badan Penyuluhan dan Pengembangan SDM Pertanian (BPPSDMP), Kementan, Dedi Nursyamsi menambahkan tentang hal ini. Menurutnya pertanian harus didukung kalangan milenial sebagai generasi penerus pembangunan pertanian.

“Dukungan milenial sangat perlu dalam sektor pertanian. Terutama dalam pertanian modern. Hal ini juga menjadi upaya pemerintah untuk regenerasi petani sekaligus melahirkan pengusaha muda pertanian yang berdampak sosial dan ekonomi bagi masyarakat pertanian Indonesia”, ujar Dedi.
